“Ueberroth is one of the oldest of Turley’s Zinfandel vineyards. Located just a few miles north-west of Pesenti, you can smell the Pacific Ocean air from the top of the vineyard. These ungrafted, head-trained vines are planted on very steep limestone slopes. The high pH of the soil makes for a very high-acid wine, elevating the ripe fruit flavours from this historic certified organic vineyard. The wine is fermented with ambient yeast. 80% of the wine is aged for 15 months in used oak barriques, of which 80% are French (the rest American). Savoury nose and with a spine of glamorous, polished fruit. Really quite sophisticated and fresh. (JR)” (06/2021)
