Bid on this 4-bottle tasting lot; including 2-bottles of 2014 Bedrock "Weill a Way Vineyard'' Sonoma Valley Syrah and 2-bottles of 2014 Bedrock Wine Company "Lorenzo's Heritage" Sonoma Valley Red Blend (94VN, 93RP, 91WS). Of the 2014 Bedrock Wine Company "Lorenzo's Heritage" Sonoma Valley Red Blend, Vinous writes: "The 2014 Lorenzo's Heritage Wine exudes Dry Creek intensity, with searing tannin and vibrant acidity that support a core of blue and purplish-hued fruits. This powerful, virile wine needs time in the bottle, as it is raw and not fully formed today. Still, I find it absolutely compelling. (AG)" (02/2016)

“The last of the Heritage mixed black blends is the 2014 Lorenzo’s Heritage from Dry Creek. This has a boatload of Zinfandel in it, but then of course, there’s the telltale Carignan, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, Cinsault, Peloursin, and Valdiguié. Abundant Chinese black tea, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry are all present in this soft, round, juicy, succulent and heady wine. (RP)” (10/2016)

Wine Spectator
“Dark and brooding, this takes time to reveal itself. Aromas of dried cherry, bitter chocolate and orange zest open to concentrated, rich flavors of blackberry, licorice and dark Asian spices. Burly tannins frame the finish. (TF)” (06/2016)

2014 Bedrock "Weill a Way Vineyard'' Sonoma Valley Syrah
Quantity: 2
Bottle Size: 750 ml
Provenance: Purchased directly from the winery and stored in a temperature-controlled home cellar.
Condition: Excellent
Morgan Peterson's Bedrock Wine Company produces wines that celebrate and express the historic and unique vineyards of California. The Weill Vineyard lies at the mouth of the Sonoma Valley, technically within the limits of the Sonoma Coast AVA. This is a cool site that would normally not be able to ripen black grapes like Syrah. However, Bedrock severely limits the crop in this site, giving the fruit every possible opportunity to soak up the up the sun here and reach optimal ripping levels. Winery tasting notes: "Though 2013 was our last year making the Weill 'Exposition' wines, we still made a single wine in 2014 using the same methods. Using a large percentage of co-fermented Viognier and a moderate fraction of whole-cluster, we vinified the wine using native yeasts. It then spent three years in 100% new oak barrels of various sizes without racking."
