Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes ((95-97JG), (93-96VN), 95BH, 95RP, 95ST). John Gilman: "The 2010 Comte de Vogüé Musigny is a beautiful wine in the making, as it soars from the glass in an aristocratic mélange of red and black cherries, blood orange, raw cocoa, stunningly complex minerality, a bit of raspberry, mustard seed, coffee, dried violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and youthfully tight, with a sappy core of fruit, outstanding transparency, tangy acids, ripe, well-integrated tannins and outstanding length and grip on the very minerally finish. A beautiful and utterly classic bottle of Comte de Vogüé Musigny in the making. 95-97+" (11/2011)

“Good deep red. Pungent aromas of raspberry, strawberry, minerals, crushed stone and flowers, complicated by subtle notes of lichee and mango. A stony, chalky wine with terrific sappy precision and energy. Here the slightly exotic candied quality simply adds another aromatic dimension in the mouth, rather than suggesting any overripe character. This very firmly structured and vibrant wine finishes with exhilarating palate-dusting lift and explosive perfume. This is close to 13% alcohol without chaptalization, according to Millet. “The step up in class is unmistakable with gorgeously complex, even kaleidoscopic and superbly elegant red, black and violet aromas trimmed with a dazzling array of spices, earth and a hint of smoke that adds unmistakable luster to the round, intense, muscular and exceptionally stylish broad-scaled flavors that possess excellent power and a building intensity that develops from the mid-palate to the explosive yet seductive finish. I really like the purity of expression here on the sappy and mineral-infused finish that has a dusty quality from all of the dry extract that coats the firm tannins. This is a big '07 built on a base of firm minerality but it remains impeccably well balanced and should live for decades so patience is definitely a virtue if you are a potential buyer.” (06/2010)

“Smoked meat and salt-, kelp-, and iodine-laced maritime mineral overlays to the sweetly ripe berry and pit fruit concentrate of de Vogue’s 2007 Musigny Vieilles Vignes make for a Pinot as intriguing as it is eager to caress and please. Plush, polished, and possessed of formidable sheer sap, it displays an energy and interplay seldom revealed in this vintage. A mineral savor of crustacean shell reduction keeps pace with nearly candied sweetness of berry fruit -- and keeps you salivating uncontrollably -- all the way to a distant finishing line. “Bright, deep red. Sappy, deep nose offers blackberry, raspberry, menthol and powerful minerality for the year, with a medicinal reserve conveying the impression of a hidden dimension. Wonderfully dense, sappy and sweet, with palate-saturating chewy extract and plenty of material in reserve. The medicinal aspect to the wine's powerful fruit and spice flavors suggest it will need a minimum of 12 years in the cellar. Finishes with outstanding breadth and explosive length. “Restrained but intriguing nose - at the end of Nov 2008 this wine was all about hidden depths and texture rather than flavour. Great finesse as well as purity of fruit. As with all de Vogüé 2007s, much more youthful than almost everyone else's 2007s. As with the Bonnes Mares, a slightly animal note. Jewelly fruit in terms of precision. Quite painful in terms of acidity. The most obviously tannic of the de Vogüé 2007s. Great purity. Still knitting itself together. Eventually yielded some cherry flavours and then, in the empty glass, the same white peach aroma that I found in an empty glass that had once held the white wine grown on Le Musigny vineyard. 18/20 points (JR)” (07/2009)
