2008 Domaine Bruno Clair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

“The 2008 Bonnes Mares is dark, reticent and tightly wound. Still, with time in the glass, the tannins begin to soften just enough to get a glimpse of the wine’s fruit. This is a powerful Bonnes Mares, but there is more than enough quality and sheer pedigree to make me think the wine will develop fabulously over the coming years. The balance and sense of harmony are first-rate. Crushed rocks, red berries and sweet spices linger on the long, pointed finish. (AG)” (05/2011)

“A brooding, serious and ripe nose of airy stone-infused red and dark berry fruit aromas gives way to gorgeously complex and layered big-bodied and tautly muscled flavors that culminate in a driving, mouth coating and hugely long and quite firmly structured finish. This is really quite pretty and impressively constructed though it doesn't quite deliver the sheer depth of the Bèze, at least not yet though there is enough underlying material that it may in time.” (01/2011)
