“Rusden’s 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Boundaries is a breathtaking 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee from 15-year-old vines that ranks with some of the finest ever made in Australia. Chris Ringland told me that the clonal material planted in the early eighties is revealing tremendous potential, and that’s certainly evidenced in this offering. While not a huge Cabernet at 14% alcohol, it reveals the classic minty, tobacco leaf, cedar, and black currant scents of a high-class Bordeaux in addition to a dense ruby/purple color, and a delineated, structured, full-bodied style with a finish that lasts a full minute. This stunning effort can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years.” (10/2004)

Based in Barossa Valley, Rusden Wines is a family-run estate founded by the Schrapel family, known for its traditional approach and deep roots in the region’s farming history. The fruit for “Boundaries” comes from estate vineyards planted on ancient sandy loam soils over clay, where dry-grown vines produce naturally low yields and concentrated fruit. This Cabernet Sauvignon reflects a more structured, site-driven side of Barossa, balancing the region’s hallmark richness with firm tannins and a distinctly savory edge.

“Since its debut vintage, Christian Canute’s Cabernet Sauvignon has been one of Australia’s finest. His 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Boundaries (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is reminiscent of Colgin Cabernet from California. Its extraordinarily pure bouquet of blueberry, creme de cassis, graphite, smoke, mint, and high quality toasty oak is accompanied by great fruit, stature, and richness in the mouth as well as a long, full-bodied finish that lasts for 45+ seconds. (RP)” (10/2005)
