Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron is a traditional Côte de Nuits estate known for old-vine holdings, whole-cluster fermentation, and firmly structured wines built for long aging. The premier cru vineyard “Aux Boudots,” situated on the northern edge of Nuits-St-Georges bordering Vosne-Romanée, is prized for its limestone-rich soils and ability to produce wines that combine the structure of Nuits with the perfume and finesse often associated with Vosne. Confuron’s restrained, terroir-focused approach highlights the vineyard’s dark fruit depth, earthy minerality, and savory complexity, capturing the classical character of mature Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir.

Burghound

Very subtle, indeed almost invisible, reduction does not really detract from the otherwise highly appealing nose of black cherry and spiced plum that introduces extremely rich, suave and palate soaking medium full flavors blessed with ample dry extract that confer a textured and velvety character to the powerful, long and stylish finish. This is an interesting combination of muscle and seductiveness. Crafted in a relatively forward style but well worth a look. (03/2009)

Vinous

Bright ruby. Very ripe aromas and flavors of plum, coffee, licorice, meat, minerals and sexy oak. The chewiest and broadest of these 2006s by far to this point; this really saturates the palate. A deep, sweet, powerful wine that finishes with surprisingly sweet tannins and less obvious oakiness than the Chaboeufs. A superb showing. (03/2008)
