“The 1990 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese AP #2 from Dr. Prüm is a superb example of the vintage that is just starting to reach its plateau of maturity and hit on all cylinders. The bouquet is pure and wide open today, wafting from the glass in a fine blend of pear, white cherries. Vanilla bean, a superbly complex base of slate, bee pollen, a touch of wild yeasts and a topnote of apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and racy, with lovely intensity of flavor, excellent focus and grip, lovely balance and a long, filigreed and refined finish. This is a lovely bottle that may yet improve with further bottle age.” (07/2016)
