Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 E. Guigal "Ex-Voto" Hermitage Rouge ((94-96RP), 96WS). Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Hermitage Ex Voto, whose fate is still a little unknown as it might be declassified into the straight Hermitage, shows the more forward, charming nature of the vintage with its sweet bouquet of cassis, black raspberries, licorice and vanilla bean. Big, rich, full-bodied and sexy with ripe tannin, it will be approachable in its youth and have two to three decades of longevity. One of the highlight tastings during my two weeks spent working in the northern Rhône was with Philippe and Marcel Guigal, who in this critic’s opinion, consistently fashion some of the greatest wines in the world. Wine Spectator
“Tightly focused and still a touch closed, with roasted alder and juniper notes holding the core of crushed plum and raspberry fruit flavors in check for now. There’s a lovely bolt of iron through the finish, along with dried anise and fruitcake tones, while energetic acidity adds length and class to the overall feel. Should settle in nicely with a touch more cellaring, as there’s tons of fruit in reserve here. A beauty. Best from 2018 through 2035.” (09/2016)

“Firm and dry on the end though some big black fruit sweetness on the palate. Lots of tannin on the end. (18/20 points)” (11/2013)
