Notes on the producer from Eric Guido for Vinous: "The Kobayashi wines graduated to cult status very quickly. This is boutique winemaking at its very best. Winemaker Travis Allen sources fruit from several locations throughout Washington State, including the new WeatherEye vineyard, which feeds his Syrah Sans Soufre. Allen is always open to experimentation but is also quite happy to keep his operation small, carving out a space in the Force Majeure winery to refine his wines. Fans of Rhône varieties, both red and white, owe it to themselves to keep an eye out for these wines, including Allen’s new Cabernet Franc, matured completely in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels."
