Wine Spectator

This is loaded with lusciously spiced and broad-textured flavors of cherry, plum tart and dried fig that resonate with lithe minerality. Complex, featuring an elegant finish that is rich and filled with light chocolate mousse overtones. (KM) (02/2020)

James Suckling

This blend of four different vineyards has plenty of fragrance and an abundance of red cherries with a sappy edge from whole clusters (25%). The depth of ripe fruit here is stunning and there’s a sleek, plush, velvety feel to the super fleshy red and darker cherries. Purely delicious, gently complex and very drinkable now. (09/2019)

Wine Advocate

The 2017 Pinot Noir Eastside Road Neighbors has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and is youthfully shy, slowly offering scents of raspberry preserves, red and black cherries and touches of cured meats, peppercorn, autumn leaves, dried rose petal and potpourri. It's light to medium-bodied, rounded and silky with slowly evolving earth and spice layers, a sturdy frame of grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long with baking spice touches. This is very youthfully coiled, and my score may look conservative a year from now. (EB) (12/2019)

Burghound

A subtle hint of oak easily allows the very fresh, cool and airy aromas of red currant, maraschino cherry and violet scents to be appreciated. The gorgeously textured mediumbodied flavors possess very good verve and slightly better richness, all wrapped in a bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This dusty and slightly austere effort is relatively tightly wound and should benefit from mid to even longer-term cellaring. *Outstanding* (04/2020)

Connoisseurs Guide

Fairly forthright on the nose yet showing a good deal of range and richness to its aromas of ripe cherries, creamy oak and sweet, slightly loamy soils, this neatly balanced Pinot, while not an especially big wine, is a decidedly complete one of polish, quiet reserve and marked persistence. It does not demand age but will clearly improve and gain further refinement with time, and, given the choice, we would opt for a few years of age with full faith that it will be drinking wonderfully for many more after that. *Two Stars* (02/2020)

James Suckling

This has an element of leafy and floral notes with some quite rich fruit. Blueberries and raspberries, as well as some spicy, loamy earth. The palate has plush, silky tannins and a very fluid, smoothly fleshy pocket of flavor that sits round on the finish. (09/2019)

93

Wine Advocate

Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Pinot Noir Fort Ross Vineyard offers lovely layers of dried herbs, brambly fruits, spiced cranberries and citrus peel on the nose with accents of saline, aniseed, earth, dried herbs and bark. It's light to medium-bodied with intense, slowly blossoming flavors knit by very ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing very long and energetic. 802 cases produced. (EB) (12/2019)

93

Vinous

The 2017 Pinot Noir Foss Vineyard is pliant, juicy and forward, all of which make it easy to drink and enjoy pretty much upon release. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice all add to the wine's dark profile. (AG) (05/2019)

91

Connoisseurs Guide

With an amplified sense of density and richness apparent from the outset, this comparatively full-bodied working ups the ante in substance while remaining insistently focused on black cherries and ripe berries and is filled out by a fine measure of well-considered oaky sweetness. It is one of the bigger wines in the Williams Selyem’s Pinot portfolio, but it never threatens to be too much of a good thing, and its imposing depth is a sure guarantor of good things ahead. Allow for at least three or four years of age here and anticipate very positive growth for a good half-dozen and more. (02/2020)

90

Burghound

Subtle wood influence is present on the mostly plum and dark currant-scented nose where background hints of spice and violet add breadth. Here too there is a refined mouthfeel to the acceptably concentrated medium weight flavors that possess fine intensity and delineation, all wrapped in a dusty, refreshing and moderately austere finish. This is also sufficiently tightly wound and compact as to require at least some patience. *Outstanding* (04/2020)
