2005 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillons"

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillons" (93VN, 91BH). Vinous: "Bright, pale yellow. Highly aromatic nose combines citrus peel, toast and hazelnut; more pristine than the Foret and Montmain. Fat, ripe, rich and dry, with superb breadth and chewiness to the white peach, citrus and mineral flavors. This really saturates the entire palate with flavor. Finishes quite full, long and strong, with exhilarating acidity giving it a light touch. Like the Montmain, this is even more impressive than it showed from barrel a year ago. (ST)" (07/2007)

Burghound

Very ripe aromas where the fruit is more white than yellow are complemented by spicy white flower notes merge into rich, full, sweet and racy flavors blessed with plenty of sap and serious length on the solidly structured, punchy and explosive finish. This is also very nicely balanced and should benefit from 5 to 7 years in the cellar first. An excellent vintage for this wine. (10/2007)

Jancis Robinson

Very different from the Montée de Tonnerre. Fresh, dusty citrus. Delicate and lightly citrussy. Then savoury, dry and intensely fresh on the palate. Fine-lined but not in the least lean. Sinewy length and power. Bright and mouthwatering. 18/20 points (JH) (06/2010)
