93 points, Stephen Tanzer for Vinous: "Moderately saturated bright red. Very floral, scented nose offers an almost Pinot-like perfume of red cherry, violet, rose petal, spices and orange peel, along with a candied nuance and a whiff of mint. Juicy, firm and high-pitched, with a richness belying its color. Flavors of strawberry, raspberry, pepper and menthol are lifted by ethereal spices. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins, building floral perfume and a delicate light touch." (5/2014)

Made from a vineyard purchased from the now defunct Karly Vineyard, the 2012 Zinfandel Sadie Upton offers a dark ruby color, lots of berry fruit, good freshness and a meaty mouthfeel. (RP) (12/2013)

Wine Advocate

From an Amador County site, the 2013 Zinfandel Sadie Upton Vineyard (15.5% alcohol) comes from vines planted in 1922 at the rather impressive elevation of 1500 feet. This is an aromatic, medium-bodied Zinfandel despite the lofty alcohol. The soil is said to consist of lots of granite, quartz, and silica, and those elements are evidenced in the wine’s minerality, its almost Pinot Noir-like perfume, and moderate weight. This is a beauty, not a blockbuster Zinfandel, but one of enormous charm, endearing ripe fruit, and a flowery, spicy red and blue-fruited character. (RP) (04/2015)

Vinous

One of the many surprises in this range, the 2013 Zinfandel Sadie Upton Vineyard has really come together beautifully over the last year. Sweet floral notes, hard candy, spices and mint all lift from the glass in a translucent, finely cut Zinfandel long on class. The Sadie Upton is not an obvious wine, rather it speaks to balance and harmony, both of which make it incredibly pleasurable to taste, even at this early stage. Although south-facing, the Sadie Upton is often one of the last parcels picked at Turley. (AG) 94+ (10/2015)
