Robert Sinskey Vineyards began with Dr. Robert Sinskey’s shift from ophthalmology to grape growing in the early 1980s, starting with the Three Amigos Vineyard in Carneros in 1982. He partnered with Acacia Winery before building his own Stags Leap District facility in 1988, where the first estate wines followed his 1986 debut vintage. Under Rob and Maria Sinskey, the estate expanded to six organically farmed vineyards across Carneros and Stags Leap, adopting whole-farm, regenerative practices and long-term cellar aging.

Robert Sinskey Vineyards was founded in 1988 by Bob Sinskey, a Napa Valley physician and viticulturist who began acquiring land in the Carneros AVA in the late 1970s before opening the winery with his son Rob at the helm. Rob Sinskey has grown the operation to over 200 acres of certified organic and biodynamic vineyards across the Carneros and Stags Leap districts of Napa and Sonoma Valleys, with winemaker Jeff Virnig, who joined in 1988, overseeing production with a philosophy centered on balance and minimal intervention. Perfect Circle Three Amigos is a Pinot Noir from the estate's Carneros holdings, where Bob Sinskey identified the region as ideal for the variety as early as the 1970s.
