NV Gaston Chiquet Rosé Champagne 1er Cru
Bid on this bottle of Gaston Chiquet Rosé Champagne 1er Cru (91VN, 90JD). Vinous: "Chiquet's NV Brut Rosé is laced with dried rose petal, kirsch, orange peel, cinnamon and dried herbs. Readers will find an exotic, mid-weight Champagne with a ton of character. There's ample Pinot intensity and also a slight vegetal note. All those elements come together in a Champagne endowed with striking nuance. This is far from an easygoing quaffer, although I suspect it will do just fine in that role if asked. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. Disgorged: May 2023. (AG)" (03/2024)

Tracing its history through eight generations in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, Gaston Chiquet was a founding member of the Special Club and remains a champion of the "grower" movement. This Brut Rosé is sourced from Premier Cru vineyards in Dizy and Hautvillers, where the silt and limestone-rich soils provide a vibrant, elegant base for a blend of Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.

“A bright pink color, the NV Champagne 1er Cru Brut Rosé is composed of 40% Pinot Noir (15% of which is vin rouge), 30% Chardonnay, and 30% Meunier, with 88% from the 2021 vintage and the rest from 2020, all raised without the use of oak. The wine is expressive on opening, with a fruity profile revealing ripe notes of nectarine, crushed berries, candied flowers, and wet stone. Medium-bodied and pithy, it has an orange rind texture and a fluffy mousse. It gets a good deal of structure from the Pinot Noir and is more than a simple quaffer, with the ability to carry through a meal from start to finish. (AF)” (12/2024)
