2006 Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts" (3L)
Bid on this 3 liter of 2006 Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts" (3L) (94RP, 92ST, 91BH). Wine Advocate: "The Dujac 2006 Vosne-Romanee Les Malconsorts – displays a more consistently sweet (cherry, plum, and blackberry) fruit and refined, creamier texture than the corresponding Beaux Monts. Black tea, star anise, honey, and brown spices along with a raw meat undertone add intrigue, and this finishes with polished, even soothing length. All in all, it struck me that Malconsorts and Beaux Monts were exhibiting a role reversal on this occasion. This is certainly grand cru in its complexity and length, and should I suspect merit following for the better part of a decade. (DS)" (12/2009)

“Jeremy always dubbed me over the years of visiting the domaine as “one of our Chambolle guys”, and I always seemed to find myself cellaring more Dujac wines from Chambolle-Musigny (and Clos St. Denis) than from the other communes. However, I am starting to crave the Malconsorts and RSV. The 2006 Malconsorts is a very worthy follow-up to the magical 2005, as the wine offers up a beautifully perfumed nose of red and black cherries, pomegranate, cocoa powder, lovely soil tones, Vosne spice and cedar. On the palate the wine is medium-full and coolly reserved on the attack, with a lovely, sappy core of fruit tightly wrapped up in fine-grained tannins and tangy acids. The finish is long, complex and intensely flavored, with impeccable focus and great grip. Super juice.” (11/2007)

“Good deep red. More savory aromas of raspberry, meat, chocolate and spices. Fat and sweet on the palate; less primary than the Beaux-Monts but very rich for 2006, with notes of chocolate and smoked meat. Finishes quite broad, with very smooth tannins. (ST)” (03/2009)

“Here the nose is distinctly different from that of its Vosne stable mate because while this too is spicy, the mostly black fruit is more deeply pitched with much more pronounced floral nuances that lead to round, supple and nicely detailed flavors that have put on some weight since I last saw this in barrel though I still would not call it dense. That said, it's certainly stylish, complex and attractive. *Outstanding*” (01/2009)

“It was clearly a maturing, very fine, red Burgundy, although a remarkable number of candidates put it in New Zealand. Perhaps they have not been lucky enough to be exposed to fine Burgundy. Floral, complex nose with sweet fruit and roundness on the palate and some real energy. Bone-dry finish on a very well-balanced fine red Burgundy. 18/20 points (JR)” (02/2013)
