Antonio Galloni writes: "Proprietor Jim Momtazee is one of the most active stewards of Moon Mountain. Momtazee acquired the Moon Mountain Vineyard in 2011 and subsequently launched his Repris brand here. First developed in the late 1800s, Moon Mountain Vineyard is one of the most visually striking sites in the appellation. The vineyard was known as Glen Ellen Vineyard until Chalone acquired it in the early 1980s. In a desire to avoid conflict with Benziger’s Glen Ellen Winery, Chalone changed the name to Moon Mountain Vineyard, subsequently launched their Carmenet brand and stopped selling fruit to outside wineries. Readers who can find older, well-stored bottles from Glen Ellen Vineyard are in for a treat. Today, winemaker Erich Bradley crafts a range of wines designed to capture the considerable complexity of this site."

Vinous
“The 2016 Left Bank from Repris is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc. Sweet and perfumed, with soaring Cabernet Franc aromatics, the 2016 is absolutely gorgeous. On the palate, the 2016 offers notable richness and plenty of volume. Super-ripe plum, black cherry, olive tapenade, dried herbs and mocha build into the finish in a voluptuous Moon Mountain red that is already so inviting. I tasted this wine as part of a panel presentation of the forthcoming Vinous Map of Moon Mountain. (AG)” (01/2020)
