The 1962 Pichon Baron is a vintage that I have not tasted for a long time. This bottle is splendid. Quite lush on the nose, this offers lovely raspberry, wild hedgerow, cedar and light graphite aromas that seem to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and acidity, fleshier than expected with just a touch of menthol. It fans out nicely on the finish - a worthy follow-up to the 1961. Bottles with sound provenance will still give pleasure. (NM)
