Maximus is back again at the same incredible Insider's Advantage pricing! A couple weeks back we offered the 2019 vintage of Bennett Lane's "Maximus", but if you blinked, you probably weren't quick enough to snag any, it sold out FAST! Not surprising when you consider the fact that the wine is absolutely delicious, sourced from great vineyards across the Napa Valley including right next door to the iconic Chateau Montelena, and a vineyard high on Atlas Peak. Also, Bennett Lane's winemaker Rob Hunter learned his craft working in cellars such as Groth, Robert Keenan, Markham and Sterling - so his pedigree is plain to see. The wine is a bold and powerful blend of Bordeaux varieties led by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot with a splash of Syrah and Petite Sirah further adding to the inky richness. Ripe plum, blackcurrant, crushed slate, warming spices, star anise, some pipe tobacco and briar patch hints. Full-bodied, nicely refined tannins and great balance across the palate. Still very youthful and full of intense fruit, but nicely settled in and integrated after a few years in bottle. Just a rocking Napa Cab blend for a price that's just plain ridiculous. To be honest the Maximus is quite reasonably priced at it's typical $55 SRP in a world where Napa wines are pretty expensive, this was already a great value. At our winery-direct, Insider's Advantage exclusive price under $20 it's sure to be another wine that flies out of here fast. Stock up and drink like a king (or Roman Emperor) for the next 5-10 years!

The last time that we had this wine, it completely sold out. This new arrival will likely do the same thing. A bold nose of dusty black cherries, anise seed and cocoa powder. On the palate, texturally, it errs on the fuller side without going over the top. There are cherry cola, cedar, nutmeg and red cassis flavors. It lingers at the top of palate with silky, yet dry tannins. This will be a crowd pleaser and very versatile with many different foods.

We're back again with a second bottling of Bennet Lane's Maximus, now offering the absolutely stellar richness of the 2018 vintage. Labeled as a feasting wine, this cabernet heavy blend is begging for a hot plate of pot-roast and mashed potatoes! Dark-chocolate dipped cherry Turkish Delights, pain au chocolat drizzled with wild berry compote, freshly brewed arabica coffee and cream, with a brilliant pop of clove powder & nutmeg dust on the finish. If you missed out on the recent deal we had for the 2019 Maximus, don't think too long about this offering on the 2018 bottling - Thanksgiving is only a few months away, and the cold weather is already at our door, this wine *will* sell out once again - time for a feast!

Flavors of black berries, currant, liquorice, mocha dust, dark coffee, and cigar leaf. Powerful, dark flavors, with a juicy, spicy finish. Maximus is a "Red Feasting Wine" as the label reads. This value driven Napa Blend from Bennett Lane is definitely a wine perfect for a feast, to be shared with friends. Cheers!

Notes

Composed of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 4% Petite Sirah, and 3% Petit Verdot, and 13% Syrah. Sourced from top vineyards across Napa Valley including their own incredible vineyard right next door to the famed Château Montelena Estate in Calistoga. Tasting notes from the producer: "The wine opens with aromas of cherry, blackberry and cassis , with notes of cocoa powder. On the palate the wine is bright and full, with rich flavors of bright cherry and berry. The tannins are velvety and smooth, and it has a fruit driven, mouthwatering finish."
