2022 Clos Cibonne "Tradition" Tibouren Côtes de Provence Rosé

Wine Spectator

Review Date: 07/2023

A distinctive, vibrant rosé, offering notes of tangerine zest, mango and orchard fruit cut with salt and mineral accents, plus flecks of spices and vanilla cream on the rich palate. This delicious version's suppleness is neatly reined in by bitter tannins on the grippy, clean and long finish. Tibouren and Grenache. (KB)

Notes

The Clos Cibonne draws its name from Jean-Baptiste de Cibon, captain of Louis XVI's Royal navy and first owner of the vineyard. After his death in 1797, the property was sold to the Roux family's ancestors. In the 1930s, André Roux planted the vineyard to the Tibouren grape varietal. Since then, both children and grandchildren have carried on the tradition. Importer's Notes: "A blend of 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, fermented with native yeasts and aged sur lie in 100 year old foudre for at least 12 months before bottling. Salmon orange in color, the nose is compelling, aromatic and spicy, with a round yet vibrant palate and a surprisingly mineral finish. A perfect match for all things Provencal and beyond, try this versatile Rosé with grilled fish with olives and fennel over saffron rice."
