O'Danagher's (Dry Fly) 9 Year Old "Specialty Barrel" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel #306 Cask Strength Non-Chillfiltered Hibernian Whiskey (750ml)
Review Date: 03/2023
As a high proof, cask strength bourbon enthusiast, this offering was calling my name. The nose is complex and layered but opens up quickly. A diverse burst of vanilla, dark chocolate, malt, cereal, wheat, & chocolate cherry ending with subtle hints of stone fruit and mandarin all hitting you in rapid succession. The first sip brings a welcoming sweetness that resembles an oaky maple syrup. The sweetness is quickly subdued by chocolaty malted milkshake and chocolate frosted mini-wheats cereal. The finish is medium-long and brings forward tingly cinnamon spice that puts the proof into prospective(144.1) without punishing the palate. This whiskey is a great addition to the lineup of American made whisky and offers a unique experience worth exploring.

Notes
O'Danagher's American Hibernian Whiskey comes from Irish traditions, and was developed by local farmer Tim Danaher with grains from his family's 5-generation farm. Triple-distilled from a mashbill inclusive of wheat, barley, malted barley, and oats, this is one of the most interesting and affordable craft whiskies on the market today. Despite the incredibly high proof, the whisky drinks extremely well offering plenty of ripe fruit and woodsy character. A splash of water is not necessary but softens the whisky well. Rarely have we come across craft whisky that's both as reasonably priced, unique in character and process and delicious as this special cask. At 9 years old, it's also one of the oldest craft whiskies we've ever bottled. At this price point and even if it were much more expensive, this exciting whisky is one of a kind in the shop right now.
