1940 Glenlivet 80 Year Old "Gordon & Macphail's Generations" Cask No. 340 Single Malt Whisky 750ml
Notes
The oldest single malt ever bottled is available in the US for what might seem like a fleeting moment. Decanter No.1 sold at auction in October of 2021 for a cool $193K, but we're able to offer one of the 10 bottles headed to the US to our valued customers. Only a handful of those will be made available at retail and the rest will be sold by the glass at the country's finest establishments. This incredible cask was distilled on February 3rd, 1940 and filled into a sherry butt. The oak used to fashion that cask was felled during the reign of Queen Victoria. When Williams & Humbert shipped this cask to Scotland, it would have been originally filled with fresh pressed grape juice then used to store fresh fortified sherry and finally, once the intense tannis had been softened, used to mature oloroso sherry. "Jose Ramirez Puerto De Santa Maria,” are carved into the barrel head alluding to the coastal origins of this special butt. Only 240 bottles will be available world wide.
