Saint Benevolence rums are the brainchild of Calvin and Chase Babcock, a father and son team with a charitable mission in Haiti going back through 40 years of service. Calvin began working with Habitat for Humanity in Haiti in 1979 as part of a construction team. In 2002 Calvin partnered with Saint Michel native Reverend Gueillant Dorcinvil to found Living Hope Haiti, which provides life saving medical care and education in Haiti. In 2017, Calvin and his son Chase launched the St. Benevolence brand to merge their love of rum with their charitable efforts. The sale of every bottle of Saint Benevolence directly funds Living Hope Haiti along with the non-profits Innovating Health International and Ti Kay, both of which are in involved in providing health care and education to help transform these communities from within. The Caribbean rum itself is not a product of Haiti, but one of sugarcane juice from the Dominican Republic and molasses from Barbados. The juice is distilled in DR in pot stills and the molasses in Barbados in column stills. The rum ages in their respective origins for 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels before being blended and bottled at 84 proof.
