Forty Nine Mile Straight Bourbon Whiskey has taken an unusual journey. It's a 7 year old bourbon that as of right now has been contract distilled elsewhere with a proprietary mashbill, but matured in the hot summer days and cold foggy nights of the Mendocino coast. The mashbill contains 21% rye giving it a spicier edge than many bourbons, but the extended aging and large diuranal shift has produced a bourbon of tremendous depth and complexity. There is a solid, rich, sweet, core of vanilla, caramel, and brown sugar and a lovely top note of creme brulee, cinnamon, nutmeg and sumptuous oak. It's an excellent bourbon with a great label paying tribute to San Francisco and the Forty Nine Mile Scenic Route through the city.
