Here is a great value in a mature Bordeaux from an excellent vintage. Aromas of dried cherry, leather and dried flowers waft from this when poured. The body is soft and silky and with air turns from red fruits to dark plum where a subtle hint of damp clay carries the persistent finish. Better after an hour in decanter.

Another great find from this property. Not as sweet as the 1989 or 1990, but with a bit more structure and grip. Please decant at least one hour-then the wine blossoms. Blackcherry aromas and flavors. Some tannins at the back, but a perfect match for a steak dinner. 25 years old and 25$-only $1 a year!! This property is quite close to the famous Chateau Poujeaux.

This is a delicious and wonderful wine. It is mature and ready to drink now, but is also lively and full of flavor. There was a nice balance of fruit and earth notes that were rounded out with a nice crisp finish. This wine had energy and focus. The Bel Air 1995 will go well with foods like lamb and beef.

Notes

Family owned for over 150 years, Bel-Air Lagrave is a highly respected Bordeaux estate in Moulis. Classic in style, and emphasizing elegance and purity of fruit, this predominately Cabernet wine (with a good portion of Merlot and a bit of Petit Verdot), generally spends nearly 20 months in oak, some neutral and anywhere from 35 - 50% new depending on the nature of the vintage.
