Review Date: 02/2019Plenty of menthol, blackberry and blackcurrant aromas in this elegant, medium-weight Haut-Médoc that’s got as much freshness as ripeness and a long, clean, mineral and herbal finish. An incredibly food-flexible wine!

Well-integrated tannins give this wine a rich, velvet character that is underlined by the blackberry fruits. The aftertaste is dense, concentrated and rich. (RV)

This beautiful château is one of the first major properties encountered heading north on the Route des Châteaux. Situated in a woodland setting, this 94-hectare estate is situated on sand and gravel soils, and produces fresh, early-drinking and great value wines. Medium-bodied with some graphite, mineral notes adding to the ripe blackberry fruit. 12 months ageing in oak, 40% new. (AW)

The 2016 Cantemerle has developed beautifully with élevage. Pliant, silky and exceptionally balanced, the 2016 has the pedigree and complexity to allow for a number of years of very fine drinking. Moreover, the 2016 delivers serious flavor intensity without being at all heavy. Smoke, iron and cedar add character to a Haut-Médoc that has a lot to offer. (AG)

The 2016 Cantemerle has a fresh bouquet of airy, floral black fruit; light violet scents emerge with time. This wine is always one of the best values in Bordeaux and 2016 is no exception. Full and fine on the palate. Will cellar well for many yars.

Big black cherry fruit some drying tannin and red boysenberry fruit. Nicely rich and fruity, without being "big". Long finish laden with minerals and savory herbs. The great thing about Ch. Cantemerle is that it also ages so well.

Beautifully composed of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot — aged 12 months in 40% new oak. A cornucopia of ripe fruit—juicy red cherries, sweet dark berries, and plums. So fresh and clean. Spice box, rose, and violet add touches of feminine intrigue and pure elegance. I absolutely love this wine and bought two bottles immediately after tasting it. I have a nagging paranoia that I should buy more because I expect it will sell out as soon as people taste this. Ready to drink now but will age gracefully over the next decade or so.
Notes
91 points, Neal Martin - Vinous: "The 2016 Cantemerle has a comparatively opulent bouquet of black cherries, boysenberry and light violet scents, touches of cedar and sous-bois emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is a touch of greenness here, although it does come across harmonious and there is a pleasing spiciness toward the finish. Fine." (08/2020)
