Dark berries with chocolate and lightly toasted oak on the nose. Opens to a full body with silky tannins and a focused and fine finish. Shows tension and beauty.

A dense wine with great fruit, this has a velvet texture and great elegance. There is structure of course from the firm tannins that stay in the background, while the main thrust of this wine is its great blackberry fruit. It will age and should be drunk from 2025. (RV)

Right off the nose it offers clarity of black fruits, with blasts of coffee bean and mocha, spiced olive paste, an exotic edge of cloves and pepper, and slate minerality that gives lovely lift to the finish. (JA)

The 2015 Lalande-Borie has a clean and composed bouquet with blackberry, cedar and light floral tones, well defined and perhaps one of the prettiest that I have encountered in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very harmonious with neatly embroidered new oak. I admire the precision here and that graphite seam toward the finish lends both freshness and an almost Pauillac-like personality. Excellent. (NM)

A piece of history and an irresistible wine, the years have been incredibly kind to the 2015 Lalande Borie. Located near names like Talbot and Gruaud-Larose, Lalande Borie offers its own expression of Bruno Borie's estates (famed for Ducru-Beaucaillou), with the quintessential St-Julien character shining through. With classic cassis on the nose, it exhibits the soft red fruit character typical of the region, complemented by a richness on the palate that will appeal to many enthusiasts while providing structure for traditionalists. This wine generated significant enthusiasm at a recent tasting, and it's easy to see why—it's full of character, in a beautiful drinking window with a long way to go, and it doesn't hurt that it’s all too reasonably priced. As of the 2018 vintage, this wine is now bottled under Petit Ducru, but it retains the same vineyard sources and inspiration from Ducru-Beaucaillou's mastermind, Bruno Borie.

Dark and rich, with chocolate cherry fruit, light cassis and cedar. Rich mouthfeel with plush fruit and a nuanced earthy component. Very easy to drink! Too easy. Update: Six months later (10/25/24), the wine is even a bit rounder, with mid-palate richness and a light tannic bite of chalk. The finish is even a bit longer with clean oak.

A rich, velvety wine. Full of dark cherry and cocoa notes with a juicy acidity, this wine delivers. There's a nice savory element too, with some graphite and cedar in the mix. This is a complex, interesting, plush, earthy, and downright delicious wine from the Ducru Beaucaillou team.
