In a cluttered field of rosés to choose from this summer, the 2014 Big Flower is one to take a flyer on. One third of this beauty consists of barrel fermented Chenin Blanc which gives the wine an acutely soft texture and embellishes its red fruit and chalky core. This rosé is truly sensational.

One of the coolest rosés I have tasted in a long time. Precise, spicy, fresh red berry fruits, lovely floral tones, and a hint of kaffir lime leaf. On the palate the wine is juicy, quaffable, has great fruit and fresh acidity, finishes dry but not aggressively so. Super drinkable...you will wonder where the bottle went! Made from Ginny's little parcel of Petit Verdot plus a secret vinous ingredient from old vines up in the Skurfberg. This is gonna be my go to this summer!

Notes

A stunning little rosé. Quite unusually this is made from Petit Verdot. The wine is perfectly poised, aromatic, crunchy bright fruit and floral tones, crushed rock minerality and possesses a lovely palate weight and lees driven texture / complexity. This can be quaffed without much thought or it can be pondered over for hours, so fresh and easy-drinking, but also very layered and complex. A seriously good addition to our 2015 rosé lineup.
