2004 Domaine Robert Arnoux Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru

Burghound
Review Date: 01/2007This displays a similar kaleidoscopic nose to that of the Suchots but with even more spice and hard as it is to believe, even more refinement and the aromas just ooze class. The ultra pure, sweet, precise and beautifully detailed flavors maintain their focus from start to the dazzlingly long and palate staining linear finish that also displays a subtle herbal component.

Good medium red. Darker fruits on the nose than the Suchots, with a component of smoked meat; less spicy and less expressive today. Then sweet, lush and wonderfully concentrated on the palate, with terrific floral lift and sappiness to the red cherry and mineral flavors. Less obvious on the nose today than the Suchots, but this ultimately possesses more stuffing and persistence. Tannins are quite suave. Try the Suchots in two or three years, but hold off a bit longer on this one.

Very intense on the nose. Very rich, yet vibrant. He is awfully good! Shines. Still terribly young, but lovely and fresh, yet rich.
