Wine Advocate
Review Date: 05/2022Pressed flowers, black cherries and dark chocolate all appear on the nose of the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Vieilles Vignes. Tasted from magnum, this is an impressively full-bodied, rich, velvety wine, with a long, mouthwatering finish and no trace of the reported 16+% alcohol. (JC)

Notes
John Livingstone-Learmonth for Cradle of the Rhône: "plum red colour in quite a full robe. Plum-prune, dark intensity on the nose – there is a serious depth of red stone fruit and a note of black olive tapenade. This is tight and sunswept wine – its concentration is shapely and layered; there is a depth of prune in the flavour, but it is also free as it ends, with a solid surge. It needs time in order to loosen a little. It is well grounded, a wine of substance that is closer or 2009 than 2012 in style. It achieves sustained length from its muscular content. An interesting drink that presents a solid southern case."
