Review Date: 03/2020Even better than the 2009, the 2010 Château Barde-Haut offers the same sexy, extroverted style yet has slightly more density and depth. Blackcurrants, plums, graphite, and loads of chocolate notes jump from the glass, and it put its foot firmly on the ripeness pedal with its full-bodied richness and depth, sweet tannins, moderate acidity, and a rockstar of a finish. It's one of the most massive, opulent wines in the lineup and will continue to evolve gracefully for another two decades or more.

The 2010 Barde Haut is deep garnet colored with a hint of brick. There is a beautiful perfume of rose oil, licorice, and dark chocolate over a core of plum preserves and boysenberries. Full-bodied, it has dense fruit and firm, chewy tannins, amazing tension, and a long and minerally finish. (LPB)

Good red-ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, singed plum and mocha, complicated by a sexy leesy quality. Plush, dense and creamy, with excellent depth and no rough edges to the black raspberry, blueberry and licorice flavors. Serious but sweet tannins coat the front teeth. This very persistent wine has the balance to give early pleasure but should hold nicely for 10 to 15 years. (ST)

Still a bit compact, with blueberry coulis, fig and blackberry paste notes tightly wound, backed by tangy black licorice, singed apple wood and tar on the finish, which features a very sleek structure and a buried iron note. This has good vivacity and should unwind nicely in the cellar. (JM)

Another great Barde Haut vintage. Even better than the 2009, the 2010 Château Barde-Haut offers the same sexy, modern style, but it has more of that 2010 power and density. Blackcurrants/black cherry aromas that leap from the glass. Sweet mid palate and smooth sweet finish. Still young so decant for an hour. This full-bodied beauty can cellar well for another 10 years. Hooray for Helene Garcin Leveque and her team at Barde Haut.

From the legendary 2010 vintage comes this gem from K&L favorite Barde-Haut. Helene Garcin's wine is consistently excellent, and this year is no exception. Rich, luscious fruit hits the palate first, followed by a wave of cocoa. A beautiful, complex wine with notes of pepper, vanilla, olive, and all structured with lovely powdery tannins on the finish. Still youthful and exciting!

A perennial favorite of K&L staff and customers alike, Barde Haut is the wine that keeps on giving, and their 2010 release is no exception. Enchanting from the first whiff of the hyper-fragrant nose, this Saint-Émilion beauty shows lively spice character up front, followed by a rounded yet structured palate of concentrated dark berry fruit, with powdery tannins on the finish. Now is the perfect time to experience this beautiful Merlot-focused Bordeaux from a great vintage.
