The combination of ripeness, lightness and harmonious dryness makes this an attractive wine that's very food friendly. I love the smooth dryness of the finish.

A delicious wine, so fruity. It does have the proper tannins but it is a wine that is already approachable with its sweet fruits-a pleasure to taste. However, for the future, watch those tannins. (RV)

This is tight and precise, with lots of cut from start to finish, as chiseled graphite and iron notes support the dark currant, mulled fig and crushed blackberry fruit. Long and toasty, but well-integrated on the lilac-tinged finish. (JM)

The 2009 Les Ormes de Pez has a strange nose at first, a little distant and missing the same fruit intensity as its peers. There is a slight dustiness here that translates over the palate. Good fruit concentration and grip, just a touch of greenness around the edges with a welcome dash of spice towards the finish. Thoroughly enjoyable if just missing some finesse. (NM)

I love this vintage and Ormes de Pez shines in 2009. Usually a bit tough on the palate, this 2009 is sweet and lovely with fine structure and balance. A lot of blackberry fruit flavors, round tannins, and a lingering finish.

Here we have a wine that's not only a "textbook" classic 2009, but also a perfect example of a St-Estèphe. The ripeness of fruit from this rich, warm vintage is pleasantly apparent, but along with it, it has the spice notes that define the beautiful terroir of St-Estèphe. It's clear the elegant touch and care donned by the Cazes family. It is aging perfectly, but still has a lot of life to live in the cellars. An easy candidate for the cellars and for dinner tonight.

Full bodied, rich but well balanced. Lots of black fruit, sweet tobacco, leather and dark spices. It has well developed soft, velvety tannins and long supple finish, Despite rich fruit, it is dry wine with good acidity to balance all the fruit. Enjoy it with a prime rib!
