The colour is brick red, the wine rich and sweet (lots of Merlot and 100% new oak) and clearly at its apogee. There's a hint of mint and forest floor and a brush stroke of freshness in behind. It's easy on the palate but not intense, the finish a little dry. It's unlikely to improve further so drink up now. (JL)
